I was working a sales job at the mall. We were closing up for the day and I found a little dog in a basket and I was trying to get the basket back to where it belonged. I couldn’t find the owner of the dog. They had left for the day but I found a little woman who was trying to find socks to fit her feet. Her feet were really small and I was trying to help her. The dog kept jumping out of the basket and running away and I had to keep going and getting it. And I didn’t really like the dog. But I didn’t want it to get lost and or hurt. I was also trying to make sure that that little old lady was OK. There was someone there with me. I can’t remember who it was. But they kept telling me don’t worry about either one of them. That’s all I could remember.
This dream is layered with symbols that could represent various aspects of your subconscious mind and life circumstances. Here's a detailed interpretation:
Sales Job at the Mall: Working in sales, particularly in a mall, suggests a public and social environment where you may interact with a range of different personalities and situations. It may reflect your current career or daily responsibilities, where results are often measured, and success is visible.
Closing Up for the Day: This can symbolize an ending or transition in your life. It may be indicative of concluding a phase, tying up loose ends, or preparing for a new chapter.
Little Dog in a Basket: Dogs typically represent loyalty, companionship, and sometimes responsibilities. Finding a dog in a basket could symbolize an unexpected responsibility or task that has been assigned to you. The fact that you don't really like the dog but still felt the need to protect it can represent a duty you feel obligated to fulfill, even if you're not particularly enthusiastic about it.
Finding the Rightful Owner: Trying to find the owner, who has left, may indicate a sense of abandonment or lack of support in tackling certain responsibilities. It suggests a feeling of being left to handle situations on your own.
Little Woman with Small Feet: The little woman searching for fitting socks could symbolize a part of yourself or someone in your life who feels small or unsupported, trying to find something comfortable or adequate in life. Helping her might reflect your nurturing side and a desire to support others or yourself where there's a struggle to fit in or feel complete.
Dog Jumping Out and Running Away: This signifies recurring challenges or distractions in your life that need continual attention. Despite your feelings (dislike), you are still determined to manage these issues, showing a sense of duty or responsibility you feel towards others or certain situations.
Ambiguity of the Companion's Identity: The presence of someone in the dream whom you can't clearly remember might represent an aspect of yourself offering guidance, or potential advice from your intuition that is not being listened to fully. This could be a nudge to pay closer attention to instincts or ignored advice.
The Companion’s Advice: Being told not to worry about either the dog or the woman, yet ignoring this advice, suggests internal conflict regarding what responsibilities are genuinely yours and what you can let go of. It may point to a need to prioritize and perhaps delegate or release certain burdens.
In essence, your dream suggests a scenario where you are juggling responsibilities, some of which you may not be fond of but feel obligated to manage. The dream may be encouraging you to evaluate which responsibilities are truly yours, and which ones you might be taking on unnecessarily. It poses a task to seek balance and to listen to that inner voice more carefully, potentially allowing you to let go of what is not serving you.
